Stomawise are currently raising funds to purchase a Caravan on a Small secluded Caravan Site in Mid Wales.
To allow post surgery ostomates have a weeks holiday (at no charge) after the have been discharged by their district nurse.
The aim of this is to help build confidence and encourage new ostomates to travel and see that having an ostomy need not stop them having a life, learning to change and look after their ostomy in different surroundings etc all helps to boost confidence in the care of your ostomy.
The caravan site is situated between Oswestry and Welshpool just off the A483 and set in 18 acres of unspoilt countryside with its own private stretch of the river Tanat, With something for everybody, Leisurely walks, Fishing or just relaxing by the caravan it’s the ideal place to recuperate. (small dogs are allowed).
A Shop, Post Office, Restaurants and a Public house can all be found near by, and with Stomawise staff only 30 minutes away in case you have a problem, you can just relax and recuperate in the natural beauty of Mid Wales.
Local attractions include:
- Picturesque Tanat Valley.
- Pistyll Rhaeadr Waterfall.
- Welshpool and Llanfair Railway.
- Lake Vyrnwy.
And a short walk from the site takes you to the weir where you can watch salmon leap, and a variety of wildlife including Herons, Otters and Kingfishers.
Booking of the caravan will be done by your Stoma Nurse or Consultant through the Health Care Professional area of the Stomawise site if he or she thinks that you would benefit from a from a relaxing week away to assist your recovery.
There would be no charges to use this facility but would be your own responsibility to get to and from the caravan site.
